Dental Veneers Bring Youth to Your Smile

Apr 30, 2014

If your teeth are looking old and tired, dental veneers can help.  It is natural for teeth to become dull and aged looking over time.  Smoking, drinking coffee, tea, and wine can all leave your teeth looking old and stained.  Bright white smiles are a sign of youthfulness.  We can restore your youthful appearance with dental veneers. Teeth whitening is another way to improve your smile, and we recommend it as part of the process. Your teeth can be whitened by up to eight shades in only an hour by visiting our office.  This simple procedure can also add youthfulness to your appearance. It is quick and easy and can be done in conjunction with other procedures. One of the ways that dental veneers can help is that they can effectively cover up dark stains.  When people have smoked for years, or skipped teeth cleanings, stains can form that are extremely difficult to remove.  Some stains are stubborn to even teeth whitening procedures.  Veneers go over the top of your teeth and can hide this type of imperfections. They can also be used to correct teeth that have gotten chipped, cracked, or broken.  Our teeth take a lot of abuses, making it easy for a chip to happen.  Whether getting hit with the baseball, biting down on something that is too hard, or getting in a car accident, things are bound to happen that create imperfections with your teeth.  Veneers are able to hide all of this. The process is easier than you may think and can be completed in only two visits to a cosmetic dentist.  On your first visit, we will examine your teeth and give them a thorough cleaning.  We will be looking for any health issues that need to be addressed as it is important to fix them, rather than cover them up.  We will also take a mold of your mouth so that we can get the right dimensions for your existing teeth. That mold will be sent to the lab so that your veneers can be created.  The laboratory technician will create veneers that are perfectly sized for your teeth and what we are trying to accomplish with your smile.  The color will also be a perfect match to your existing teeth.  Once completed, they will be sent back to us so that we can install them. On your second visit, we will give you some form of anesthesia to help with any pain that may occur.  Your teeth need to be filed down so that the veneers lay flat with your gums.  This is an important step to make sure that your teeth do not stick out.  After the filing has been completed, grooves need to be placed on the front of your teeth to help the dental cement to stay in place.  Dental cement is used to attach the actual veneer to the front of your tooth.  Once they are placed on your teeth, the cement will harden and hold them in place.  The result is a perfect smile that you can be proud of.
